For tutors

Teach on your terms

Set your own rate, keep the larger share of it, and get paid straight to your bank. TutorForAll handles the payments and the paperwork so you can focus on teaching.

Commission that falls

20% → 12%

The platform fee starts at 20% and drops to 12% as you teach more each month. Founding tutors are floored at 15% for their first 12 months.

Your rate card, your call

A$30+

You price every format you teach — one-to-one from A$30/hour, group places from A$15/hour per student. The family pays exactly the rate on your card; the platform fee comes out of it, not on top.

Paid through Stripe

Direct

Your share of each booking is transferred to your own Stripe account and paid out to your bank. Set it up once in a few minutes.

What you keep

Keep more as you grow.

You set your own rate; the platform takes a commission that declines as you deliver more hours in a calendar month. The fee is deducted from the rate you advertise — no separate bill.

Dynamic platform commission by monthly hours delivered, with a worked payout on a $60 per hour lesson.
Hours delivered / monthPlatform feeYou keep on a $60/hr lesson
0–20 hrs / month20%$48(fee $12)
21–50 hrs / month15%$51(fee $9)
51+ hrs / month12%$53(fee $7)

Tiers are set on the whole month by the band you reach. The $60/hr figure is an illustrative tutor-set rate; your take-home is your own rate less the fee for your band.

Your take-home, in full

Rate, less the fees, is what lands in your account

Stripe’s processing and payout fees come out of your share, not the platform’s. Here is a real $60/hr lesson, worked through to your net:

The family pays (your rate)
$60.00
Less platform commission (20%)
$12.00
Less Stripe processing fee
$1.35
Your net take-home
$46.65

The Stripe fee here uses Stripe’s published Australian card rate (1.75% + $0.30). At payout the exact fee is read from the transaction and shown on your dashboard, so every booking’s breakdown is the real figure.

When you get paid

  1. Held at booking. The family pays up front and the money is held securely — not yet yours, but committed.
  2. Confirmed after the lesson. You and the family each tick “session completed”.
  3. Released to you. Once you both confirm, your net is transferred to your Stripe account. If one side doesn’t confirm within 3 days and no dispute is open, it releases automatically — you’re never left unpaid.

Your dashboard shows what’s held, what’s releasable and what’s been paid, with the fee breakdown on every booking.

Group teaching multiplies the hour

A small group of 5 at $20 per student is $100/hr gross

Group rates are per student, so every filled place adds to the same teaching hour. Price a small group (25 students, from $15/hr per student) or a large group (615, same floor) on your rate card, and each family pays only their student’s place:

Each family pays, per student
$20/hr
Places filled
× 5
Your gross for the hour
$100/hr

The platform fee for your tier then comes out of the gross, as on any booking. Group sizes depend on demand — gross assumes every place fills.

one hour taught, 5 per-student rates earned — and each family still pays a fraction of a 1:1 lesson

Founding tutors

15% flat for 12 months, plus free premium resources

Our first cohort locks in a 15% commission for a year — never higher, whatever your hours — and gets free, unlimited access to every premium resource pack for the duration of founding status. No separate resource fee.

your rate never changes — only the share you keep grows

Discounts, from your side

Family savings never come out of your rate.

Families can save with a household discount, a session bundle, or a new-tutor intro price. None of these cut your rate — here's exactly how each one is funded, so your take-home is always clear.

New-tutor intro promo

We fund it — you keep more, not less

When you’re new, you can offer an intro price to your first families. It costs you nothing: we fund it by taking 5 percentage points less commission on your first bookings. Your advertised rate and the family’s price are unchanged — you simply take home more. Here’s the same $60/hr lesson, with and without the intro cut:

The family pays (your rate)
$60.00
Standard commission (20%) — you keep
$48.00
Intro commission (15%) — you keep
$51.00

That’s $3.00 more in your pocket on this lesson, funded by the platform — not taken from your rate.

Household discount

When a family books for 2+ students, they get 10% off. You are still paid your full rate for every student you teach — the saving comes out of our share, not yours.

Session bundles

A family can buy a 5- or 10-session bundle up front. The whole bundle is held securely on booking, and each session releases to you as it’s completed — the same held → confirm → release flow as a single lesson, one session at a time. You’re paid your full rate for every session you deliver.

Where the fee goes

What the platform fee pays for

The fee is how the platform runs. Here’s what it covers — and how some of it comes back to you as free resources and to students as scholarships.

Vetting & safety

Identity, WWCC and qualification checks, plus secure storage and expiry tracking of those documents.

The learning platform

Your searchable profile, booking calendar, messaging, dashboards and the shared resource library.

Fast, secure payouts

Payments and payouts run through Stripe. The platform never holds your money — Stripe pays you directly.

Ready-to-run resources

A base library of teaching materials, free to every tutor, so you can run a session without building it from scratch.

Support & moderation

A real person answering email, handling disputes and upholding the community rules.

The scholarship pool

The platform’s share, together with donations, funds free and subsidised places for students who need them.

Your business

Run your own tutoring business.

Tutors on the platform are independent contractors. You set the rate, you own the client relationship — and you keep the whole of your share.

Paid in full

No tax is withheld from your payments — your share of every booking lands whole. Income tax and GST are yours to manage, like any business.

Your ABN protects your payout

A valid ABN is required to teach on the platform. Without a quoted ABN, Australian businesses must withhold 47% of payments — quoting yours keeps every payout whole.

Free to set up

Don’t have one yet? Apply for an ABN — it’s free — at abr.gov.au. Already have one? Check it on ABN Lookup.

One rule we never bend

Every lesson with a student under 18 — online and face-to-face — must have a parent or guardian present. A verified Working with Children Check is required before you can take any booking with a minor.

Ready to get paid?

Setting up payouts creates your Stripe account and hands you Stripe’s own secure onboarding. It runs in test mode today, so you can try the whole flow without a real bank account.

Once you’re verified, your bookings and earnings live on your own dashboard on the learning platform — where students and parents each get their own too.
