Parents & students
Just about all of them. Academic subjects across the Australian Curriculum, plus languages, creative arts, sport and fitness, and life skills such as coding and study skills. Kindergarten to Year 12, university and adult learners.
Identity check, qualification checks and an interview, plus a valid Working with Children Check for anyone teaching under-18s. We’re onboarding our founding tutors through that pipeline now, and no tutor is listed before verification is complete.
Tell us about the learner: subjects, level, goals, preferences. We match you with a verified tutor who fits, and you can message them and read their verified profile before you book. Wrong fit? We’ll re-match you free.
Each tutor sets their own rate card: one-to-one from $30/hr, group places from $15/hr per student. You pay the profile rate and nothing on top. No booking fees, no subscriptions. Some tutors offer your first lesson free — it’s marked on their profile and carries no payment. Scholarship places are covered in full by donated teaching hours.
You have 3 days to confirm the lesson went ahead or tell us something wasn’t right. If your tutor has marked it complete and you do nothing, it confirms automatically when the window closes. A lesson that didn’t happen is refunded in full, whatever the cancellation window, and your bank’s card-dispute rights are never affected.
Yes. There are no lock-in contracts, so you can pause or stop any time. Cancel at least 24 hours before a session for a full refund, and if a tutor isn’t the right fit we’ll re-match you free.
We’re recruiting tutors experienced with learning differences such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia. Tell us what the learner needs and we’ll factor it into matching. You can also message any tutor before you book.
Yes. Lessons run online, so any state, territory or time zone works. The scholarship program gives priority to learners in regional and remote communities.
Tutors
Qualified teachers, coaches, degree-holders and high-achieving university students. You don’t need prior tutoring experience if you have the credentials. Everyone clears the same vetting, and teaching under-18s requires a valid Working with Children Check first.
Identity, qualifications and an interview, plus a Working with Children Check if you’ll teach minors. Vetting finishes before you’re listed, and checks continue once lessons begin.
You set your own rate card: one-to-one from $30/hr, group places from $15/hr per student, and every student in a group pays your per-student rate. Commission is stated up-front: 20% up to 20 hrs/month, 15% to 50, 12% beyond, and a flat 15% for founding tutors. The free earnings calculator turns your rates into weekly, monthly and yearly figures.
The family pays at booking and the money is held while the lesson is delivered. The lesson is confirmed when you both confirm it, when the online classroom record confirms it, or — once you’ve marked it complete — automatically after the family’s 3-day window. You then request payment from your dashboard, and it clears to your Stripe account 5 days later.
You do. Stripe’s processing and payout fees come out of your share, never added to what the family pays. For Australian domestic cards Stripe’s published rate is 1.75% + $0.30 per transaction; at payout the exact fee is read from the actual transaction. Your dashboard shows the full breakdown for every booking: rate, platform share, Stripe fee, your net.
Yes, a valid ABN is required. Tutors are independent contractors running their own tutoring business, and quoting an ABN is what lets us pay you in full; without one, Australian businesses must withhold 47% of payments. Applying is free and takes minutes.
Your business, your tax. Nothing is withheld from your payments, so you account for your share as business income. GST registration only becomes compulsory once your turnover reaches the ATO threshold, and your booking history gives you the records.
Yes. Pledge weekly teaching hours on the donate page, even just one. You teach a scholarship student at no charge to the family. Pledging again replaces whatever’s still waiting for review, so your latest pledge is the one that counts.
Once vetting of our founding tutors is complete and verified tutors are matched with registered families. Apply now and we’ll walk you through the pipeline step by step.
Scholarship & donations
Families experiencing financial hardship, with priority for Indigenous students and learners in regional and remote communities. Every place is covered in full by donated teaching hours and the platform’s own share, and scholarship students get the same verified tutors as everyone else.
Your name and your email. That’s the whole application: no hardship essays, no documents. Someone on the team reads it and replies to you directly about a place.
If you tutor, donate teaching hours on the donate page — even one a week. For every hour tutors give, the platform puts in its own share in kind: free access to every learning resource for scholarship students. Money giving isn’t open right now; the fund grows through those hours and the platform’s share.
The learning platform
On the learning platform, which has secure video built in. Bookings, session notes and messages with your tutor all stay in the one place.
Yes. Parents get their own login and see the record the tutor actually writes: what each session covered, the notes, what’s next. Not a summary of a summary.
A laptop, tablet or phone with stable internet, a webcam and a microphone. That’s it to start. Some subjects reward extras, like a drawing tablet for digital art or a keyboard for music.
Accounts are created when lessons are confirmed: one for the learner, a separate one for the parent. Login details arrive by email, and the Log in link in the site header takes you to the platform.
